I personally have over 15 years mortgage lending experience and close over $40 million in residential mortgages a year. That may not sound like a lot to the average person but to put that in perspective, the most successful mortgage broker in the entire country closed $76 million last year. He is from Southern California where the average loan is much larger, and he has several assistants working with him. The "average mortgage broker" is considered very successful if they close $6 million in an entire year.   4. I do not care how large or profitable a mortgage may be, I generally do not meet with the customers in person. 95% of my business is done by phone, fax, FedEx and US Mail.
